Evona countertop basin: choosing the tap, the height and the finish

Evona has no tap hole, which gives you the choice between a wall-mounted tap and a tall mixer. Here is how to plan it, and how to pick gloss white or matt black.

Evona, Rectangular ceramic countertop basin

A countertop basin turns the washbasin area into a design feature. Evona is a rectangular basin with rounded corners and thin edges, 50.5 × 40 cm and 14 cm high, in glazed ceramic. Three decisions make the difference: the tap, the height of the worktop and the finish.

Start with the tap

Evona has no tap hole. This is deliberate: the tap is placed next to the basin, not on it, which keeps the ceramic shape clean. You have two options.

  • A wall-mounted tap. The pipes are built into the wall above the basin, and only the spout and the handle show. The worktop stays completely clear. Plan the pipework before tiling and check that the spout is long enough to reach over the edge of the basin.
  • A tall single-lever mixer fixed on the worktop, beside or behind the basin. This is simpler in a renovation, because nothing needs to be built into the wall. The worktop needs a hole for the mixer.

Set the right height

A countertop basin adds its own height to the worktop. Evona is 14 cm high. Many people find a basin rim around 85 cm from the floor comfortable, which means a worktop around 70 to 72 cm high. Adjust for the people who use the bathroom: slightly higher for tall adults, lower in a children's bathroom.

Waste and overflow

Evona has a Ø 46 mm waste outlet and is supplied without waste, so you can match its finish to the tap. Choose a waste suited to a basin without overflow, such as a non-closing waste or a click-clack waste designed for countertop basins. Your plumber will choose the trap to suit the vanity unit.

Gloss white or matt black?

  • Gloss white reflects light and suits every style, from minimal to classic.
  • Matt black gives a strong, contemporary contrast on a wood or stone worktop.

Both are cleaned with a soft cloth and a mild product; avoid abrasive powders, especially on the matt finish. For a coordinated bathroom, combine a matt black Evona with a matt black Vega Square toilet.

Complete the washbasin area

Choose a mirror about as wide as the basin, centred above it. A Luz Square continues the straight lines of Evona; a Luz Round softens them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put a standard mixer on Evona?

No. Evona has no tap hole. Use a wall-mounted tap or a tall mixer fixed on the worktop next to the basin.

What worktop height do I need for Evona?

Evona is 14 cm high. For a rim at about 85 cm from the floor, plan a worktop around 70 to 72 cm high, and adjust to the users.

Which waste should I buy for Evona?

A Ø 46 mm-compatible waste suited to a basin without overflow, for example a non-closing or click-clack waste for countertop basins. It is not supplied, so you can match it to the tap.
