Wall-hung toilets

A wall-hung toilet is fixed to the wall instead of standing on the floor. The cistern sits inside a concealed frame behind the wall, so only the bowl and the flush plate remain visible. The floor stays clear underneath, which makes cleaning easier and gives a small bathroom a lighter, more open look.

What you need besides the bowl

A wall-hung toilet is always installed on a concealed frame. The frame carries the weight, holds the cistern and sets the height of the bowl. It is built into a stud wall or a false wall in front of an existing wall. You will also need a flush plate, which is chosen with the frame.

Each Vega toilet is sold as a complete pack: the ceramic bowl, a quick-release soft-close seat with stainless steel hinges, and the fixing kit. The frame and the flush plate are not included, so you can use the system your installer already knows. Before ordering, check that the frame has 18 cm fixing centres and a horizontal outlet: this is the standard configuration the Vega bowls are designed for.

Square or round?

The two models share the same footprint and the same equipment. The choice is mainly about style and about the other pieces in the room.

• Vega Square has straight lines and softened corners. It measures 54 × 36 × 40 cm and comes in gloss white or matt black. It pairs naturally with a rectangular basin such as Evona and a rectangular mirror such as Luz Square.
• Vega Round has a smooth oval bowl. It measures 54 × 36 × 35.3 cm and comes in gloss white. It suits rooms built around soft shapes, for example with a Luz Round mirror or a Torino bathtub.

Both bowls project 54 cm from the wall, a standard depth that fits most bathrooms, en-suites and guest toilets.

What "rimless" changes

On a traditional toilet, the inner rim hides an area that is hard to reach with a brush. Rimless bowls have no rim: the inside surface is open and smooth, so dirt and limescale have fewer places to settle and cleaning takes less time. Set the flush volume of the cistern as recommended by the frame manufacturer so that the water covers the whole bowl.

Planning the installation

• Height. The frame lets the installer choose the height of the bowl. Many installations place the top of the bowl around 40 cm above the finished floor; it can be set higher for tall users or for easier sitting and standing.
• Space. Leave comfortable free space in front of the toilet (around 60 cm is a common recommendation) and some elbow room on each side.
• Wall. In a stud wall, use a frame that is fixed to the floor and to the structure. Your installer will choose the right model for the wall.
• Finish. Matt black ceramic is cleaned like gloss white: a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive product.
