# Walk-in shower screens: installation and care

The [Aire Walk-In](https://www.nuevabano.com/en/collections/walk-in-shower-screens/aire-walk-in/) shower screen combines a 6 mm tempered glass panel, a chrome aluminium wall profile and a stainless steel support bar. The tray and taps are not included.

## Before installation

-   The tray or tiled floor must be finished, watertight and sloped towards the drain.
-   Check that the wall is plumb: the adjustment range of ±20 mm on each side compensates for a slight deviation.
-   Tempered glass cannot be cut or drilled: check the dimensions before installation.
-   Handle the panel with two people, without knocking its corners or edges.

## Installation, step by step

1.  Offer up the wall profile, check that it is plumb and mark the holes.
2.  Check for cables and pipes, drill and fix the profile with suitable wall plugs.
3.  Insert the glass panel into the profile with its seals and packers.
4.  Set the glass plumb within the ±20 mm range, then tighten the locking screws.
5.  Fix the stainless steel support bar between the glass and the wall, following the instructions.
6.  Run a sanitary silicone joint along the wall profile, on the outside of the shower.
7.  Let the silicone cure for 24 hours before the first shower.

## Everyday care

-   After each shower, use a squeegee on the glass: it is the habit that prevents limescale most.
-   Clean the glass with soapy water or a mild glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth.
-   For limescale marks, use a mild descaler suited to glass, rinse immediately and keep it off the profiles.
-   Wipe the profile and the bar with a soft cloth and a pH-neutral detergent.
-   Replace the seals when they are worn.

## What to avoid

-   Abrasive pads, steel wool, scrapers and blades on the glass.
-   Acetone, solvents and chlorine-based products on the chrome profile and the stainless steel bar.
-   Knocks on the edges and corners of the glass.
-   Hanging from the support bar.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can a tempered glass screen be cut to size?**

No. Tempered glass cannot be cut or drilled. The adjustment range of ±20 mm on each side compensates for a wall that is slightly out of plumb.

**How long before the first shower?**

Let the silicone joint cure for 24 hours before the first shower.

**How do I prevent limescale on the screen?**

Use a squeegee after each shower and clean the glass regularly with a mild product. For deposits, use a mild descaler suited to glass and rinse it off immediately.
